The older you get, the harder it is for you to make a change.
It happens because the longer you live, the stronger your beliefs become. More than that, the longer you leave, the more your habits will become actions of your subconscious and you’ll do things without realizing it.
Want to know how hard it is to change a habit?
Try brushing your teeth, for 30 days or longer, different than you’re doing. If you brush your teeth from left to right, change the direction and brush them from top to bottom. At first, you’ll feel uncomfortable and you’ll think you’re doing something wrong, but it’s not like you’ll be using a brush made of wires.
At the same time, you’ll have days when you’ll start brushing your teeth the way you used to and realize only after a few seconds that you went back to your old habit.
The same thing applies when you want to change any goal. And the bigger the goal, the more obstacles you’ll have.
Whatever change you want to make in your life, you should be aware of the habits that build the thing you want to change and address each habit on its own.
The purpose of this book is to provide you with a starting point along with specific things that you can do to have small but relevant and constant improvements in your life. You’ll find a list of personal skills that can be transferred to your career and a list of habits that can help you make your life better.
Inside this book (just as with any book from The Optimist Box), you’ll find simple information, easy to understand, so you can start becoming practical right away.
